Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 19, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Simple Calculator ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the website simplecalculator.ca and our companion iOS and Android applications (together, the "Services"). We have designed the Services so that we do not need to collect personal information in order for them to work.

1. Summary

  • We do not ask you to create an account or sign in.
  • We do not collect, store, or share the numbers you enter.
  • We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
  • We do not use cookies to identify you.
  • All calculations run on your device.

2. Information we do not collect

Inputs you enter into any calculator (such as principal amounts, interest rates, home prices, down payments, loan terms, and contribution amounts) are processed entirely on your device. They are never transmitted to us or to any third party. We have no servers that receive or store these values.

We do not collect: names, email addresses, phone numbers, device identifiers for advertising, precise or coarse location, contact lists, photos, microphone or camera input, health data, or payment information.

3. Information automatically received (website only)

When you visit simplecalculator.ca, your browser sends standard technical information to our hosting provider (such as IP address, user agent, and the page you requested). This is inherent to how the web works. Our hosting provider may retain short-lived access logs for operational and security purposes. We do not read, export, analyze, or combine these logs with any other information.

Our iOS and Android apps do not make network requests during normal use, so no such information is generated by the apps themselves.

4. Cookies and local storage

The website and apps use a single piece of local browser or app storage to remember your theme preference (light or dark). This value stays on your device, is not a cookie sent to any server, and is not used to identify you. You can clear it at any time through your browser or device settings.

We do not set analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any cookies sent to third parties.

5. Third-party services

We do not integrate third-party analytics, advertising networks, crash reporters, A/B testing tools, or social media SDKs. The only third party involved in delivering the Services is our website hosting provider, which receives standard web traffic as described in section 3. The app stores (Apple App Store and Google Play) separately handle downloads and updates under their own privacy policies.

6. Children's privacy

The Services are suitable for general audiences and do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in other jurisdictions). Because we do not collect personal information at all, no special children's data is collected either.

7. Security

The most effective security control we provide is simply not collecting information. There is no user database to breach. The website is served over HTTPS with a TLS certificate.

8. Your rights

Under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other applicable privacy laws, you have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information an organization holds about you. Because we do not hold any personal information about users of the Services, we have nothing to produce, correct, or delete in response to such a request. You can verify this directly: no account means no profile to view.

9. International use

The Services are operated from Canada. If you access them from outside Canada, you do so at your own initiative. Because no personal data is transmitted, no cross-border transfer occurs.

10. Disclaimer — not financial advice

Calculations shown are estimates based on assumptions hardcoded in the Services at the time of their release, including (for the Canadian mortgage calculator) CMHC premium tiers, minimum down payment thresholds, and the 5.25% stress test floor. These rules and the underlying rates change over time. Your own mortgage, loan, or investment outcome may differ. The Services are not a substitute for advice from a licensed financial advisor, mortgage broker, or accountant.

11. Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where practical, highlight the change on the website. The current version is always available at simplecalculator.ca/privacy.

12. Contact

Questions about this policy or about how the Services handle information can be sent to privacy@simplecalculator.ca.
